Siesta Key 2010 Single Family Sales Statistics

30% of Sales are Foreclosures
Siesta Key had a total of 134 single family sales in 2010, of these roughly 30% were distressed foreclosure sales. This includes both bank owned and short sales homes. Below is a chart showing the price anlysis of single familly home sale on Siesta Key in 2010.
There were a total of 134 homes sold, 40 of these were distressed sales, 11 bank owned and 29 short sales. The 95 non-distressed home sales sold for an average of $322/sq.ft which is $79.00 less per sq. ft. than the average sq. ft. price of the distressed sales.

From November 18-21/10 thousands will be flocking to our beaches to view the Siesta Key Crystal Classic - a world class display of sand sculpting. The fine white sand in Siesta Key offers perfect conditions for this event, and you'll see the results in the amazing pieces of art created by master sculptors. We aren't talking little sandcastles here. Artists from all over the U.S. will be competing for over $25,000 in prize money.
Attracting an estimated 40,000 people, this is the largest tourism event offered in Siesta Key.

With BP’s Deep Horizon disaster still pumping oil into the Gulf of Mexico, the worst fears of many Americans has been realized. There is a rallying cry by many local residents to stop offshore oil drilling completely. These calls for accountability will culminate in demonstrations at two local beaches this Saturday, June 26. Protests will be held on Anna Maria Island and at Siesta Key Beach at noon, however organizers have requested that patrons arrive at 11am in order to properly prepare for the event.

Siesta Key Beach Rated #2 in the country | Safe from oil crisis

Siesta Key has consistently ranked highly in Stephen Leatherman's annual survey on the Top 10 beaches in America. This year, Siesta Public Beach was again ranked number two, only coming in behind a private beach in the Hamptons. According to the Sarasota Herald Tribune "the No. 1 honor went to Coopers Beach in Southampton, N.Y. -- a "tony" place that charges nonresidents $40 a day for beach parking." Siesta Key beach is free and so is parking everwhere on Siesta Key!
BP's recent Deep Horizon oil drilling blunder has many Florida residents worried about the possibility of oil reaching their beaches. However, there seems to be no reason for Sarasota to be concerned with Siesta Key according to the infamous "Dr. Beach."
